APT helps separate temperature effects from the pressure-test evidence

Even a small change in the average temperature of the air inside a pipeline can produce a noticeable pressure change. APT measures that temperature movement acoustically so it can be considered alongside pressure and PE creep

PRESSURE DOES NOT MOVE FOR ONE REASON ALONE

Temperature, creep and leakage can all influence pressure

APT brings these effects into one test record so the corrected pressure behaviour can be compared with the predicted creep and allowable-leak curve.

What this changes

The test team can distinguish temperature-related pressure movement sooner and focus investigation where the corrected trend remains above the predicted curve.

Send the basic installation and programme information first. MTS will review the arrangement, methodology and equipment requirements against the applicable network procedure.

  • Network and test location

  • pipe material and diameter

  • SDR or wall thickness

  • Section lengths

  • Test pressure

  • Site layout drawing

Arrangement Checks

  • Main cleared and dried as required

  • Flange ends installed

  • Compressor on site suitable for pressurisation of the pipeline

  • Suitable site access
